In this guide, we'll talk about process of joining a fraternity, what usually happens, and what you can expect. The Rush Process
Compared to sororities, the process of rushing a fraternity is a laid back experience.  You probably won’t be required to visit every house, usually unlike the sorority system.  Sororities often hold elaborate events and themed-parties to recruit prospects.  Fraternities simplify the process; they order tacos from Taco Bell or hot wings from Hooters.  While you’re all munching away on the complimentary hor’dourves or shooting baskets, you’ll begin talking about the fraternity.

It’s usually fairly informal.  If you get along with the members, you get a bid.  If your conversations are awkward and forced, you probably won’t get a bid.  Regardless, there are many other houses to explore.

Many people receive bids from multiple houses.   Take your time to decide.  Joining a fraternity is a life-long commitment.  Eventually, you will find a house that stands above the rest.

The Pledge Process
Time spent being a pledge is usually considerably longer than sororities, many times lasting an entire semester.  The pledge process focuses on the development of brotherhood between pledges and members. Fraternities ask pledges to participate in team building activities.

Be careful, though.  Hazing has the potential to develop during the pledge process.
