Ironing
Let someone show you how to iron, instead of having us explain.
All you need is an iron and a flat surface. If you do not have
your own set of ironing tools, do not bother buying your own. Ask
around your floor or your dorm hall’s front desk. Many of these
supplies are provided for free.
Adjust the iron to the proper setting depending on the fabric, and let
the iron warm up for two minutes. Lay your article of clothing
flat on the surface. Some pants have creases in them. Fold
the fabric along the crease and iron to prevent the crease from rubbing
away.
To iron, begin in the center of your article of clothing and drag the
iron to the edge. Do not push down on the fabric. If a
wrinkle does not come out, repeat.
If you have never ironed before, turn the garment inside out. This way if you burn the fabric, it will not be visible.
Finally, never, ever iron your own dresses or suits. Take these
clothes to a professional. Dry cleaning is surprisingly
affordable, and gives us great results every time.
